Autumn statement 2014
The Autumn Statement is due to take place on the first Wednesday of next month (3 December 2014). The statement will be used to give an update on the state of the economy and provide an update on the government’s plans for the economy based on the economic and fiscal forecasts published by the independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR). The forecasts will look at the future performance of the UK economy up to 2018-19.
The OBR provides an updated statement on the current state of the public finances and whether the government is going to meet its own fiscal objectives. The OBR was established in 2010 to provide independent and authoritative analysis of the UK’s public finances.
The Autumn Statement is widely regarded as the second most important economic event of the parliamentary year after the Budget and this year will take place less than six months before the general election.
The Treasury’s Twitter feed will include all of the latest information on Autumn Statement, and will be using hashtag #AS2014.
